Mental Health Therapist Senior

Reporting to the Primary Health Care Manager, under the leadership of the Clinical Manager of Mental Health and Addictions and the supervision of a Senior Mental Health Therapist, the Mental Health Therapist is responsible to provide a wide range of mental health services to a broad population of clients. They are responsible for the planning, development, organization and delivery of counselling services of children, youth, adults and their families with the goal of restoring mental health and/or supporting clients to learn skills to manage their illness. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience - Nursing experience working with clients with chronic mental illness Education - Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Licenses - Valid Class 5 driver's license Other Education and Training - Master of Psychology is acceptable - Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable Competencies - Written Communication Skills - Public relations skills - Intermediate Computer Skills - Verbal communication skills - Public speaking skills Knowledge and Abilities - Sound clinical judgement skills. - Able to cope w/ clinical, ethical, legal issues involving mental health services - Plan, develop and conduct variety of treatments and psycho-educational groups - Ability to effectively manage a large volume of work - Ability to take initiative - Ability to provide public/educational presentations - Abilit...
