Nurse B - Community Mental Health Nurse

The Community Mental Health Nurse (CMHN), reporting to the Manager of Mental Health & Addiction Services, is an essential element in a comprehensive Mental Health Service. The CMHN has extensive knowledge of the evidence based principles and practices of Community Health Nursing. A large portion of the CMHN's work is based outside of the clinic working independently. Each skilled CMHN is expected to monitor and administer medication, assess clinical status, provide case management, develop behavioral treatment programs, provide coverage for other recovery services team members, provide counselling and education and provide various forms of psychotherapy, including individual, family and group therapy. A CMHN provides health promotion, education and early intervention/prevention to the communities they work in. This position works in an integrated manner with other mental health and addiction programs. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience - 2 years of recent RN/RPN experience in acute psychiatric or community psychiatry Education - Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) Other Education and Training - Nursing diploma is acceptable - Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable - Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable Competencies - Computer skills - Verbal communication skills - Organizational skills - Time management skills - Written Communication Skills Knowledge and Abilitie...
