About Faire

Faire is a technology wholesale platform built on the belief that the future is local. Independent retailers around the globe collectively represent a multi-hundred-billion-dollar wholesale market that has historically been fragmented and offline. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so businesses can grow and local communities can thrive.

We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.

Help build the data foundation behind every decision at Faire:

Faire is building the operating system for local retail. Every day, hundreds of thousands of independent retailers and brands rely on Faire to discover products, grow their businesses, and compete with large marketplaces. Behind every product launch, experiment, and business decision is data, and how quickly and accurately teams can turn that data into insight shapes how fast Faire can move.

We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Faire’s Analytics Platform team.  You will manage data warehousing, ETL pipelines, medallion data sets, BI tooling, and agentic analytics tools that teams across Faire rely on every day to make critical business decisions. The team’s mandate is to reduce the time from data to insights for Product Engineering, Data Science, Product Management, Strategy, Analytics, and Finance while ensuring high quality and freshness of that data.

This is not just a people management role. You will set the technical direction for the analytics platform, shape its strategy, and lead a team that other teams across the company depend on. You’ll partner closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to turn ambiguous needs into reliable, scalable, cost-efficient platform systems, and you’ll stay close enough to the architecture and code to lead your team well.

You’re excited about this role because…

• You want to build and lead a team that owns foundational systems used across the entire company
• You enjoy hard technical problems in data warehousing, pipelines, data quality, and the performance and cost trade-offs of data processing at scale
• You care deeply about internal customer experience and want analysts and data scientists to trust the platform and find it easy to use
• You’re excited about how AI agents are changing analytics work, and want to put those tools in the hands of the people who use the data
• You love helping engineers grow and building a team culture of craft, ownership, and continuous learning

What you’ll do:

• Directly manage, mentor, and grow a team of 8 engineers, helping each of them reach higher levels of impact in their careers
• Set the technical vision and roadmap for Faire’s analytics platform, including data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, foundational datasets, and BI tooling and integrations
• Lead scoping, planning, and prioritization, balancing urgent near-term needs with long-term platform investments
• Hold a high bar for data integrity, security, privacy, governance, reliability, and operational excellence across the platform
• Own cost efficiency across storage and compute, with the right monitoring, alerting, and cost tracking for workloads
• Build AI/LLM-powered tooling and automation that make analytics work faster and more accurate
• Partner closely with Data Science, Analytics, Finance, and Product Engineering to understand their pain points and turn them into clear platform priorities
• Triage and assign production issues and defects alongside planned work, and identify the infrastructure or tooling changes that prevent them
• Dive into the architecture, designs, and code so you can lead your team effectively
• Manage relationships with select infrastructure vendors
• Own process and team structure decisions, and attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent

We’re excited about you because you:

• Have 8+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 3+ years in engineering leadership positions
• Have experience building and operating data platforms, such as data warehousing, ETL pipelines, orchestration, and analytics engineering workflows
• Have a strong technical background you still use every day, including strong Python and SQL, and are willing to write software for a couple of months as part of your onboarding
• Understand the performance, capacity, and cost trade-offs in data processing systems
• Have experience diagnosing, mitigating, and addressing data system production issues at scale
• Demonstrate strong internal customer empathy and a track record of building platforms or tooling with high adoption
• Have a track record of leading teams to higher levels of contribution and helping engineers grow their careers
• Are comfortable bringing clarity and structure to ambiguous, cross-functional problems
• Have strong communication skills and can work well with both technical and non-technical partners
• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Bonus points if you:

• Have experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses
• Have led through other managers
• Have a postgraduate degree in computer science, data science, data analytics, or mathematics
