Whether you already have experience in rehabilitation or are an RVT looking to grow your skills in this area, we’d love to hear from you!
About Us
The Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador was founded with a simple but important goal: to ensure that pet owners never have to leave the province to access the veterinary care their pets need.
Today, VSCNL is an emergency and referral hospital committed to providing gold-standard veterinary medicine through collaboration, innovation, and lifelong learning. Our diverse caseload offers opportunities to work alongside experienced veterinary professionals, expand your knowledge, and make a real impact on patient outcomes.
We believe in caring deeply for our patients and our people. We’re committed to creating a supportive environment where team members feel valued, encouraged to grow, and proud of the work they do.
About the Role
As a Rehabilitation RVT, you’ll play an important role in helping patients recover from injury and surgery, manage chronic conditions, improve strength and mobility, and maintain a better quality of life.
You’ll work closely with veterinarians, rehabilitation professionals, and pet owners to support individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs and lifestyle.
Our rehabilitation services include a range of therapeutic approaches, such as hydrotherapy, manual therapy, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), therapeutic ultrasound, conditioning, pain management, and post-operative recovery support.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with rehabilitation assessments and implementing individualized treatment plans.
Supporting patients through therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation sessions.
Monitoring patient comfort, mobility, progress, and response to treatment.
Assisting with rehabilitation modalities, including hydrotherapy and other therapeutic techniques, as appropriate to your training.
Supporting recovery following orthopedic and other surgical procedures.
Helping patients manage chronic and degenerative conditions, including arthritis and mobility challenges.
Educating pet owners on home exercises, ongoing care, and strategies to support recovery between appointments.
Maintaining accurate medical records and documenting patient progress.
Communicating with the broader veterinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming rehabilitation environment.
Every patient is different, and you’ll have the opportunity to help tailor care to their individual needs, whether they’re recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, improving fitness, or maintaining mobility as they age.
What We’re Looking For
Registration as a Registered Veterinary Technician in Newfoundland and Labrador, or eligibility to register.
CCRT certification would be considered an asset. Candidates who do not currently hold this certification must be willing to obtain their Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) certification within their first year of employment.
A genuine interest in rehabilitation, mobility, pain management, and improving patient quality of life.
Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient and client care.
Confidence handling patients with a variety of needs, abilities, and temperaments.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from colleagues across different areas of veterinary medicine.
An interest in client education and helping pet owners feel confident supporting their pets at home.
Previous veterinary rehabilitation experience or additional rehabilitation training would be an asset. However, we encourage RVTs with a strong interest in this field to apply, even if they are looking to develop their rehabilitation skills further.
