The Opportunity:

You will help shape how Taza communicates with Tsuut’ina Nation audiences, residents, businesses, partners, media and other stakeholders connected to community development.
You will lead strategic communications planning and much of Taza’s day-to-day media relations, while working directly with the Vice President, Community Experience. You will also direct agency and contractor partners, support a part-time coordinator where applicable, and produce polished content across media, web, social, community and corporate channels.
Responsibilities:
Integrated communications plans and campaigns aligned with Taza’s business and community-development priorities.
High-quality content for Tsuut’ina Nation audiences, residents, businesses, partners, leadership and the broader public.
Website content, newsletters, community and construction updates, key messages, reports, presentations, award submissions and organizational announcements.
Strategic direction and quality oversight for Taza’s social media agency, communications vendors and selected influencer or content contractors.
Communications strategy, promotion and media support for major events and initiatives.
Communications integration into various marketing initiatives.
Proactive media relations, including media-list development, story pitching, releases, advisories, interview coordination and briefing materials.
Measurement and reporting that turns media, digital, web and audience data into useful recommendations.
Responsible use of AI and digital tools to improve communications planning, production, collaboration and insight.
Qualifications & Competencies:
Seven or more years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, media relations or a related field.
A strong portfolio of strategic plans, media materials and audience-focused content you have personally led or produced.
Direct experience building media relationships, pitching stories, writing releases and supporting interviews or spokespeople.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, plus the judgment to handle complex, sensitive or high-profile topics.
The ability to manage several priorities, stakeholders, approvals and deadlines with limited day-to-day direction.
Experience directing agencies, vendors, freelancers or contractors and holding partners accountable for quality and results.
Working proficiency with Microsoft 365, Monday.com, content-management systems, email/CRM platforms, analytics, generative AI, and Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
A degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience in land development, real estate, community building, economic development or another multi-stakeholder environment.
Experience communicating with Indigenous communities or organizations and an understanding of respectful, relationship-based communications.
Experience with executive communications, board materials, issues management, community engagement or crisis communications.
A proactive working style: you anticipate needs, bring recommendations and move work forward.
